Boortmalt Perth Malt Plant Tour
Friday 7th February 2025
The AgVocateWA 2025 Boortmalt Forrestfield Plant Tour provided members with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the grain supply chain beyond the farm gate. Thanks to the support of Cargill, members were granted exclusive access to facilities and operations not typically available to the public, creating a valuable learning experience for attendees.
The tour offered a behind-the-scenes look at the processes involved in grain handling, storage, processing and export logistics, helping growers and young agricultural professionals better understand the journey their grain takes once it leaves the farm. For many attendees, the experience was eye-opening, providing a greater appreciation for the complexity of global grain markets and the infrastructure required to move Western Australian grain from paddock to customer.
The event encouraged meaningful discussion between industry representatives and growers, while strengthening connections across the agricultural supply chain. By showcasing the links between production and end markets, the tour aligned with AgVocateWA's mission of educating, connecting and developing the next generation of leaders in Western Australian agriculture.
AgVocateWA would like to sincerely thank Cargill for their support of this event and for providing exclusive access to their Forrestfield operations. Their willingness to share knowledge and open their doors to our members created an invaluable educational opportunity, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of where their grain goes after leaving the farm and the role global supply chains play in connecting WA agriculture with customers around the world.
